      News | EU ROHS Regulation Exemption List

      Author:中認聯科 time:2020-08-26 Ctr:2494

      Recently, the Official Journal of the European Union (OJ) issued new directives (EU) 2020/360, (EU) 2020/361, (EU) 2020/364, (EU) 2020/365, (EU) 2020/366, and revised ROHS directive 2011 /65/EU Appendix III and Appendix IV exemption clauses. This revision mainly subdivides the use of hexavalent chromium and lead in some exempt materials and gives a new exemption period according to the new classification.

      According to (EU)2020/360 EU ROHS Annex IV Article 37 is updated to

      project   number

      Exempt   items

      Scope   and date

      37

      Application and at least one condition of the   electrical conductivity test the lead in the platinum-plated platinum   electrode used;

      (A). In the laboratory application of unknown   concentration, it has a large range of measurement that covers the   conductivity range of more than one order of magnitude (such as the range of   0.1ms/m and 5ms/m);

      (B). The accuracy of the sample range is +-/-1% and   the solution measurement requires high corrosion resistance electrode:

      (I). Solution acidity <ph1;

      (ii). Solution alkalinity>ph13;

      (iii) Corrosive solutions containing halogen gas;

      (C). Measurements with conductivity exceeding 100   ms/s must be carried out with portable tools.

      Waived until   December 31, 2025

      According to (EU) 2020/361 EU ROHS Annex III item 9 is updated to

      project   number

      Exempt items

      Scope   and date

      9

      Hexavalent   chromium, used in absorption refrigerators as an anti-corrosion agent in the   carbon steel cooling system, its weight ratio does not exceed 0.75% of the   coolant

      Applies to categories 8, 9 and 11, exempted to:

      -Except for in vitro diagnostic medical equipment   and industrial testing and control equipment in the 8th and 9th categories,   they are exempted until July 21, 2021;

      -Class 8 in vitro diagnostic medical devices,   exempted until July 21, 2023;

      -Category 9 industrial testing and control   equipment and Category 11 are exempted until July 21, 2024.

      9a)-I

      It is used as an anticorrosion agent in the carbon steel cooling   system of endothermic refrigerators (including mini refrigerators). The   maximum concentration of hexavalent chromium is 0.75% (weight ratio). The   refrigerator is designed to run fully or partially with electric heaters   under constant operating conditions , The average input power is <75w

      Applicable to categories 1 to 7   and category 10, exempted until March 5, 2021

      9a)-II

      Corrosion inhibitor used in the carbon steel   cooling system of endothermic refrigerators, the maximum concentration of   hexavalent chromium is 0.75% (weight ratio)

      —Designed   to run fully or partially with electric heaters, under constant operating   conditions, the average input power is ≥75w

      —Designed   to use non-electric heaters completely

      Applicable to   categories 1 to 7 and category 10, exempted until March 5, 2021

      According to (EU) 2020/364 EU ROHS Annex IV, new item 44 is added

      project   number

      Exempt   items

      Scope   and date

      44

      Used in environments where ionizing radiation   exposure exceeds 100Gy/hour, and the total dose exceeds 100Gy, cadmium in the   body of a radiation-resistant camera with a resolution greater than 450 TV   lines

      Applicable to   Category 9 and exempted until March 31, 2027.

      According to (EU)2020/365 EU ROHS Annex III item 41 is updated to

      project   number

      Exempt   items

      Scope   and date

      41

      Solder and final surface materials of electrical   and electronic components, as well as lead in surface materials of printed   circuit boards used in ignition modules and other electrical and electronic   engine control systems, must be installed directly or in the crankcase or   cylinder of a handheld internal combustion engine for technical reasons   (Categories SH:1, SH:2, SH:3 in Directive 97/68/EC)

      Applicable to all kinds of products, exempted to:

      -Category 1-7, Category 10 and Category 11 are   exempted until March 31, 2022

      -Except for in vitro diagnostic medical equipment   and industrial testing and control equipment in the 8th and 9th categories,   they are exempted until July 21, 2021;

      -Class 8 in vitro diagnostic medical devices,   exempted until July 21, 2023;

      -Category 9 industrial testing and control   equipment and Category 11 are exempted until July 21, 2024.

      According to (EU)2020/365 EU ROHS Annex iii item 41 is updated to
