On November 19th, 2024, the website of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China issued a notice for soliciting opinions on eight compulsory national standards (draft for comments) including China RoHS, namely "Requirements for Restricting the Use of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products". The deadline for soliciting opinions is January 18, 2025, and the public can give feedback on different opinions during the publicity period.
The Requirements for Restricting the Use of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products stipulates the requirements for the limit, labeling and conformity assessment of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic products. Applicable to electrical and electronic products produced, sold and imported in People's Republic of China (PRC).
The main contents of this update include the following five aspects:

Four items of control of harmful substances of o-phenylenediamine (DBP/BBP/DEHP/DIBP) were added, and the categories of harmful substances controlled by electrical and electronic products in China were increased from six categories to ten categories, keeping in line with international industry requirements. 2. The standard methods of GB/T 39560 series are used in the testing method to ensure the accuracy and consistency of the RoHS compliance testing results in the industry.
3. According to the identification requirements, the ways and requirements of digital expression of relevant identification information, such as QR code and screen display, have been added to reduce the RoHS control cost of enterprises.
4. In view of the conformity declaration, the requirements for high-risk components of harmful substances covered by the test report in the technical supporting documents were added, so as to enhance the overall credibility of the industry RoHS "self-declaration" conformity assessment results.
5. Inspection rules have been added to support the industry to continuously ensure the RoHS compliance quality in the conventional production process of electrical and electronic products.
